Several pubs in Westport
have sessions every night in the season and regularly throughout the year. Matt Molloy, member of the Irish Band The Chieftains is considered one of Ireland's best Flute players. His
pub in Westport is a great place to experience Ireland's best musicians and local traditional players.

Clew Bay in County Mayo stands out as one of the real coastal treasures of Ireland. Overlooked by the striking Croagh Patrick, Clew Bay is surrounded by mountains on virtually every side, with the Nephin Beg range to the north and the Sheeffry Hills to the south. The Lettermaghera Loop on the lower slopes of the Nephin Beg Mountains is a easy 10 km Loop Walk begins 3km west of Newport - only a few minutes from the house.

The area has excellent angling waters all around, a choice of good golf courses and abundant rough shooting and, moreover, a charm of scenery attracting artists, writers as well as photographers.


Sailing
Clew Bay is an ideal location for sailing. Glenans sailing centre, is only a short distance from the Inn.

Swimming
Several Blue Flag beaches are around the clear waters of Clew Bay - the Mulrany Beach and the famous beaches of Achill on the North Side are al not to far from the house.

Angling
Our area is a true angler's paradise. Ballinlough Lake is just 2 km from the house, various other lakes and rivers are closeby. The inn is near Roscahill pier on Clew Bay, a good spot for shore angling. Various operators for deep sea, game and coarse angling offer their services throughout the year.


Golfing

A 9 hole Golf course with stunning views of Clew Bay is just a few minutes away ! More golf courses casn be found in Westport (18) Mulrany (9) and near Keel on Achill Island (9).


Horse riding

Carrowholly Stables and Riding Centre - which is not far from us - provides for guided scenic and coastal treks with stunning views of Clew Bay. Beginners are as welcome as advanced riders...

Mayo offers plenty of planned trails and guided walks are available in various locations.
Croagh Patrick, Ireland's holy mountain, Slievemore and Croaghaun on Achill Island, Clare Island, Ben Nephin, the Western Way, the Foxford Way and the Bangor Trail, the wild North Mayo Cliffs - are just some of the many outstanding walking trails and areas...
For more leisurely walks try the quiet country lanes, the river and coastal walks near our house.

The full day North Mayo Drive will take you to spectacular Cliff scenery as well as numerous sites of historical interest: round towers, abbeys, high crosses, standing stones and ring forts- and, last not least the archeological site of the Ceide Fields, a pre-historic field system dating back some 5000 years in a breathtaking elevated location on the cliffs.
